The White Wall
“Making an intellectual leap, or a precarious analogy, I would say that the mute and still response of Calligas, by shooting photos and videos of what was constantly before her as a view, was her instinctive reaction against the dark impulse of death, neurosis and breakdown. Like prayer or mediation, this incurable repetition of an action, the sinking into the self by going through the wall, may look at first like neurosis, inertia, stupor, stagnation, a contemplation of nothing, of the void. On the contrary, however, it is a major healing process, a stage of mourning and therapy, a revelatory act of acknowledging and accepting a continuum which is always transcribed onto the now and leads to liberation.”–Thanos Stathopoulos
